Copyright & takedowns

Every story on Airotica is meant to be the work of the author who posted it. If you believe your work has been posted here without permission, tell us and we will act quickly. This page follows the notice-and-takedown process of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512); we honour equivalent notices from other jurisdictions the same way.

1. Sending a takedown notice

Send it through the contact form (topic: copyright / DMCA takedown notice) and include:

  1. The work you claim is infringed (a title, and a link to or copy of the original if it is published elsewhere).
  2. The URL of each chapter or story on this site that you say infringes it.
  3. Your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices may be returned for correction. Knowingly misrepresenting that content is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. §512(f)).

2. What happens next

3. Counter-notice (for authors)

If your work was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send it through the contact form (topic: DMCA counter-notice) with:

  1. The URL of the removed content.
  2. Your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service from the person who sent the original notice.
  5. Your physical or electronic signature.

4. Repeat infringers

Accounts that receive repeated valid takedown notices are terminated, in line with the enforcement ladder in the content guidelines. Plagiarism reported by readers is handled the same way.

5. Other complaints

For content that isn’t a copyright matter — a policy violation, or a story that depicts you or someone you know — use the “Report this chapter” link on the chapter page, or use the contact form.
